Sorry to say but I think the things you listed are all side effects from having children. When I had my children I lost alot of hair (don't wory it comes back although never as thick as once was). Lose of interest in sex! You and every other new mother!!!!! Not only are you exhausted from taking care of twins but who really feels sexy when you have weight to lose and walking around without a shower for three days!!!!
Can't respond too much on the headaches. Could be the stress of having two new ones. I have the Mirena and do not get headaches. Good news though. Research has found that having sex relieves headaches. Try it! It will certainly take care of the lack of sex problem.
The aches and pains too are from being on your feet and running around like a chicken with your had chopped off. I remember alot of aches and pains especially in my neck from carrying the baby so much. And my legs and feet always hurt from always being on the move. Don't forget, pregnancy is hard on the body and especially since you carried twins. It can reek havok. You may feel like your anti-deppressants aren't working because after birth there are so hormonal changes going on in your body which can cause you to behave irrrationally at times. I remember crying for no reason at all. Also, sounds like you may have a pinched nerve or something causing the numbness in the toes. Now, I am not saying none of this can't be attributed to the Mirena. However, when I read your post I had to giggle because I remember experiencing all the things you listed after the birth of each of my children. Mild post pardom and late nights can also cause the bitchiness.
I can say that I had many side effects with Mirena....headaches, dizziness, heart palpitations, zero libido, acne, always feeling like I had been hit by a truck, bloating....you name it....everything except hair loss...and I am 43 and my only child is 12 so it's not related to pregnancy!! Have had the thing OUT since Feb and am so much better...except now I am POST-menopausal, just like that! Was having cycles normally before having Mirena installed...only had the darn thing for 5 months and now have to take HRT to protect my heart and bones. So far so good, I am taking bio-identical estrogen and progesterone (only 10 days per month)....but wow, I did NOT expect this. I have a great Dr and he did tell me that while he was pretty excited about Mirena a year ago, he has heard a LOT of the same complaints from many of his patients. I hope that this doesn't keep getting worse for you.
Hi, I just read your post and if your symptoms continue, PLEASE ask you doctor to check out your thyroid level. Pregnancy is a huge stressor on your body (even more so with twins!) and a common side effect is a drop in your TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). What the thyroid does is control metabolism. Common side-effects are fatigue, hair loss, feeling cold, weight gain without significant eating habit changes, headaches, and joint pain. The remedy is to take a pill once a day to help boost your TSH level. The test requires you to have a tube of blood drawn and is pretty fast and inexpensive. My sister went through months of pain, extreme fatigue and many doctors before anyone thought of her thyroid. (I felt really guilty since I was a nurse and didn't suggest it to her. I assumed that they had checked it and that it was fine.) Anyway, the side-effects you are having may not be due to the IUD and would be worth checking out. Hope it gets better for you!
