I am a 60 yr old woman, and have been on statins for several years, most recently 40 mg. I have been getting more and more side affects over the years that I kept attributing to age, overweight, lack of exercise. After reading so many of these postings, I stopped the statin in March. Some of the side affects i.e. the aches in my arms, hands went away fairly quickly. But my legs still ache so much and the muscles in them seem to be weak, I have a hard time standing up from a sitting position. Do any of you know if it sometimes takes this long for symptoms to go away or is it possible that they won't???

Linda, I'm a 54 yr male. Was badly dealt to with statins, stopped last Dec and still suffering - BUT - I'm well hell of a lot better and expect in time to fully recover. I was on the crap for 4.5 yrs & like you didn't think it was the medicine causing all my pains, palipatations, agitation, memory loss etc etc. The first 2 - 3 months off the medicine withdrawals were the worst part of this ordeal for me. Linda you need to take coq 10 BUT only take the tishcon hydrosoluable variety called quinogel take 2 - 3 x 100mgs through out the day. I had a 20 - 30 % decrease in pain and the same increase in energy within 3 - 4 weeks it will also help to repair heart damage from the statins. Do your own research also go to spacedoc google, believe me stick to the brand above. Best to you from New Zealand.
