I have been on Diovan for a year. The worst part for me has been the weight gain. I went to my doctor last week. He denied that the medicine could cause it and did a thyroid test. Those results were normal. I can barely eat a meal and I am exercising 5 times a week. I know how to lose weight-- I've had three babies. This is impossible. I am so upset.

The same thing is happening to me. I was on Diovan without the water pill and didn't have an issure. Since then my doctor changed mine to a higher does which has the HCTH in the pill. In the last 4-6 weeks I have not changed my exericise habits and am actually eating less calories/fat grams and have gained off and on around 3-5 pounds. That might not sound like a lot but at 5'0" and usually around 105 lbs, it makes a lot of difference. I'm afraid it won't stop and the weight will keep coming on fast. Like your doctor, they say it does not cause the weight gain, but after being on 3 other types of BP medication, there was NEVER a weight gain.
