I am not sure if it is the Lisinopril or the 3 other medications I am taking for HBP, none of which seem to really help, since I have white coat blood pressure which goes wwwwway up.....This is the 2nd time I have woken up with my upper lip swollen and right now it is like 5 times the normal size and there is swelling above it now also as the swelling increases....started out as a bit of a tight feeling and swelling....Since this happens to people a lot who take Lisinopril (I take 40mg) I think this may be what is inducing it....It happened on Xmas day last year, not long after I started taking it, but then it was from an injury also, so it is hard to figure it out for sure, as I have addedn new BP meds since then....I don't see where anyone has posted anywhere on the internet about any one of the others though. Oh yes, the coughing is another thing...I hate that!!!

If you have swelling it could very well be from lisinopril, i would immediatly go to the doctor, especially if it is in the throat or mouth areas or tongue this could be a very serious side affect.

Just got back from the ER.....Doc took one look at and said, ace inhibor, which is of course, Lisinopril..... I went to the ER because the swelling was no longer localized.. My face was starting to swell up more and more and my cheeks and bottom lip were swelling also..... Gave me 4 different drugs, plus a prescription so I could start them at home. For those of you reading this, he said that with Lisinopril and ace inhibitors, it doesnt matter what the dosage, what time you took it, or how long you have been taking it... It can happen at any time, sometimes only once but for others months later, as it did with me... The first time I attributed it to an injury that I had received on my lip and didnt go to the doctor. This time it was way more severe and it can cause a serious problem with breathing etc if left unchecked..... So, beware you all about this in case it happens to you!

I sure will not miss the coughing from Lisinopril either.
