I was prescribed Zocor approximately 1 month ago. I began taking the Zocor and immediately on the first night I had slurred speech. It went away after two nights...but I continued to have horrible headaches for about a week. Finally, I thought I was in the clear. After about 3 weeks, I had a little spasms in my left leg...from the foot to the hip. It went away...and a few days later it showed up in my right leg...from my foot to my hip. My right knee is currently on fire...and I can't walk really well. I have a tendency to dray my right leg behind me. It gets better after a period of rest, but as soon as I try to walk...it's back again. I stopped taking Zocor a few days ago, and I see the doctor tomorrow.

I get very sad when I read all these stories.

Sad because people have to suffer and are so gullible to the scares about high cholesterol etc. that the pharmaceutical companies and the doctors spread.

I have never taken any statins - nor would I - if someone should say that my cholesterol is too high.

I have seen the consequences of this type of medication (as well as others) in people near me.

That`s why I started to look for information.

I would suggest that you don“t just look for information about Zocor (=Simvastatin).

The side effects for all statins are similar.

Go to the Lipitor-messages.

There are som suggestions about taking Q10 to decrease the problems of side effects.

Have you ever asked your doctor about risks/benefits with this type of medications?

How many people have to take a statin - for how many years - to prevent one single death?

When it comes to side effects there are many different reasons why you suffer more or less.

Your age, your sex, your physical condition, other diseases and medictions etc.

Are you sure that high cholesterol is the cause of heart disease?

After having read a lot of books - I have a different opinion.

Please visit:

Here are som books:

The Great Cholesterol Con (Antony Colpo)

The Cholesterol Myths (Uffe Ravnskov)

Malignant Medical Myths (Joel F. Kauffman)

The Truth about the drug companies (Marica Angell)

What if medicine disappeared?
(Gerald E. Markle and Frances B. McCrea)

How doctors think (Jerome Groopman?)

Good luck.
