I started using lipitor from my doctor, it lowered my cholesterol all around but I started to have lower back pains. At first I thought it might be prostate cancer, but after having to MRI's done they found no cancer, thank god. But I went to an orthopedic surgeon to see what the problem was. He looked at the mri's and saw lower dics hitting my nerve endings. He also thought that it might be muscle problems so he gave me 3 epidurals and that helped for a while took away about 50% of my pain, but I still have the pain, It is hard for me to get comfortable when I sit or even when I am sleeping. I don't want to think that it is the lipitor that is doing it to me but after talking with others I feel it is time to talk to my doctor about it. My doctor said that lipitor is the safest one that will do very little harm to my liver. I am not a doctor so I would not know.. My cholesterol level was 246 at one time now it is 175. I am now facing possible spine fusion to help correct my disc problem. But will also ask doctor to prescribe something else. Alan

Your dr. was definitely WRONG . . . . saying lipitor is the safest one !! All you do is look on this website. I took Lipitor also. Although I stopped taking the poison in 2-08, I still have the side effects. Drs. don't know anything about the side effects of the dangerous drugs that they give so easily. There are many natural products to help health issues.
It sounds like you may have several health problems.

Good luck.

B careful M8, I'm a 54 yr male. Was very active in every aspect of life ended up only being able to walk 800 metres. I had a total hip replacement June 07 and was crying with the pain in the other hip. Since stopping Lipex (New Zealand) the pain has gone out of the unreplaced hip by 70% approx. I will still need another hip replacement but at this rate not for another decade. My xrays showed some artheritis but I don't think enough for a hip replacement. You need to get the label for lipitor here lipex. When I read the label under adverse side effects it stated sore muscles, cramps, joints etc see your doctor urgently. The truth of this dangerous debacle is that the drug maker states the adverse side effects but the doctors have not read or advised them to us. Check it for yourself. Also my advice is to pee in your doctors pocket even if he/she is wrong. I would rather have my old Dr who knew mine and wifes history than start all over again but I couldn't control myself at the time, I was loosing my mind as well. Googe space doc you will learn a lot. Take hydrosoluable coq10 tishcon variety. My medical history B4 I was put on preventive health medicine was a vist to the Dr about 3 times a decade. I hate and distrust, I used to like; love and trust everyone I knew. Good luck.

I just picked up your 50% pain improvement. I'm on a narcotic pain killer called oxycontin. This kills artheritis and any other pains dead BUT only kills my muscular lipex pain 30 - 50 %. I would read the makers label (online)check the safety of stopping your lipitor immediatly. I'm not a betting man but I would bet a smile is comming to you soon and maybe no operation. Lets know. Before you have a operation, stop taking Lipitor and see what happens.

I had exactly the sme problem when I was taking Crestor. The sciatic nerve touching the discs caused immense pain. I needed 2 crutches just to be able to move. I of course stopped the Crestor, this was in 2003 and I've never taken another statin. A year earlier I had had some slight discomfort when taking Lipitor which i also stopped at that time. Somehow, foolishly, i allowed my doctor to give me the crestor in 2003. Now I'm almost back to 100% health, still have some balance problems, tight Achilles tendons and a slightly numb left foot. My hypothesis, reduction of cholesterol by statins, causes myelin sheathing around the nerves to be damaged or not repaired or replaced. Never take a statin again as long as you live.

Wow, you need to run as fast as you can from that Dr. because that's how statins work, by making your liver sick.
They deplete CoQ10, very important for energy, that's why so many people get muscle weakness. Eventually they could end up congestive heart failure because of the energy depletion, and told they need a heart transplant. You need to supplement with CoQ10 if you keep taking this.

You may not be a doctor but you are the one living with your body and therefore you are the one who "should know" your body better than that doctor. Trust your instincts. Now that you know how deadly statin drugs are to your body, learn to know when to say NO!!! no more!!! Cholesterol is not the cause of heart disease and lowering your cholesterol with statins will only ruin your health. Heart disease is caused by a nutritional deficiency. When your body doesn't have enough Vitamin C, it can't make enough collagen, when it can't make enough collagen, it can't repair your arteries and as a last ditch effort, your body has to send out the sticky LDL called, Lp(a) to patch up the arterial lesions. Too much Lp(a) causes too much plaque build-up which then causes the blockage that leads to a heart attack. Wanna stop heart disease? Vitamin C is the solution NOT STATINS!!!
