I'm so very very sorry for your loss. Please know what I am about to say is not intended to discount what you have been through at all. I just hope everyone realizes ALL ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES carry the risk of life threatening cardiovascular problems such as cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral thrombosis, coronary thrombosis, pulmonary embolism. This is not specific to Yaz / Yasmin. As with all medications I feel it is a risk / benefit decision that has to be made. People should always be informed on the facts of the medications they are taking to understand the risks and benefits and make a decision based on those facts. Every type of medication carries side effects, some dangerous. Some people have risk factors tending toward those dangerous effects and should not take the medication because they are highly at risk to develop the effects. For others, the benefits of the medication may outway the risks that accompany it. And sadly, sometimes someone becomes severly ill and or dies from a side effect, without ever having known of any existing risk factors, and developing a life threatening problem anyway.
