I was on doxy (for treatment of Lyme) for about 2 weeks when I started to get tingling in my hands and arms. Then the tingling turned to a burning sensation in my hands -- the thumb and index finger on both hands. It was symetrical. The burning was really painful and went on for 15 hours. I couldn't sleep. I took Tylenol to help the pain, but it wasn't very effective. I quite taking the doxy and the pain/burning sensation went away the next day. I didn't have the burning sensation in my toes. Weird! My doctor took me off the doxy and now I'm on one more week of amoxycillin. Interestingly, the skin on my fingers and thumbs is now red and raw -- like it is breaking down and wearing away. Thank goodness I finish the amoxycillin soon!
I am having the exact same problem I am taking doxy right now and am supposed to take it a week and am more than half way through now but a couple days ago, I went swimming and had gotten sunburn. That same day I started feeling tingling in my fingers and hand and when I would wash them with cold water or even cold air blowing on them they would tingle. Now I have burning in my toes and burning in my hands when warm, tingling when cold. I thouht it had something to do with the sunburn, I didn't even think of my meds. im on until I read that other ppl. on same meds as me are having the same problem. I just dono if i should finish my meds or not.
