Dear Kate and Dave,
I wrote you in April just after taking my daughter off of Singulair. While there are no words to express how deeply I feel for your loss, I want you to know that I believe you saved my daughter's life. She had been taking Singulair for 3-4 years and became progressively worse. She started just before she turned 13 so I thought the teenage years were just not a good phase for her. She became progressively agitated, anxious, depressed eventually leading to cutting and ultimately ending with a suicide attempt on March 10th. Prior to her hospitalization, I had her to psychiatrists and counselors. She wasp prescribed medications for ADHD, depression, and anxiety. She was actively in counseling. It was your prompting of the report on March 27th that saved her life. I screamed in anguish when I saw the report on the news...for you and for her. Please know how grateful I am to the two of you for being courageous enough to stand up and let this be known. I will forever be indebted to the two of you as will my daughter. I am grateful and thankful to say that she is doing so much better. She lost some of her life so to speak and remains on depression medication and in counseling as she recovers. I pray that there will be healing through this process for you. If there is anything I can do to help the cause, please let me know. (kswinks@hotmail.com) I wish you the best and know that this single mom in Indiana holds you dear to her heart.
Kim
