Hi Holly,
I'm SO concerned about this. My 14 year old daughter has had her 2nd shot and within the last 3 months she has lost so much hair around her forehead moving towards the middle of her head that I am making an appointment for her to see a doctor. She will NOT be receiving the rest of the shots and I believe that this vaccine has done this to her hair. If anyone else can email me with hair loss problems / solutions due to this vaccine, it would be greatly appreciated. I pray this isn't a permanent problem for her, for you, or anyone else.
Sorry your daughter is experiencing this. I am going to a holistic healer tomorrow to see if she has any insight. I am also going to a different dermatologoist in early Sept. It sickens me to see what came out of my head today in the shower. I am collecting it all and taking it with me to my appointments. If I learn anything useful, I will let you know. Unfortunately, I don't see new hair growth coming in on my head but hopefully it will come back for your daughter. My OBGYN thinks I'm nuts for even suggesting that the vaccine could do this. No one is very sympathetic. Best of luck to you both.
Hi again Holly, best of luck to you too! Please feel free to keep me posted on how things are going with you. You are definitely not the only one who has experienced hair loss after these shots... I have a strong feeling that this is going to be a major issue. Make sure you DOCUMENT everything.. every doctor appointment, save the hair... take pictures.. EVERYTHING! This could be very very important to you in the future if something does come out of this as far as lawsuits..etc. go. You need to hold onto everything...ok? Please please hang in there and keep me posted... our hearts go out to you...just know you're not alone!

Hi again, I had my first appointment with a nutritionist / herbologist. She is convinced that the main reason my hair is coming out is largely due to the vaccine but secondly due to stress. She said we would never be able to prove this though. She has me on a vitamin regime of biotin/flaxseed oil, a daily multi-vitamin/mineral tablet and a detox vitamin called milk thistle. For all of these vitamins I am on the prescription strength and am taking them multiple times a day. This is supposed to help detox my body as well as promote healthy hair growth in the future. She said I should be prepared to shed my entire head of hair with hopeful new growth. I am also seeing a dermatologist in early Sept. It looks like this may not be alopecia as the hair is coming out all over my head instead of in circular patterns where complete baldness occurs and never grows back. I am shocked by the side effects of this vaccine. I would definitely recommend that women/girls should NOT take it until further studies come out on what it can really do to your body. Anyway, hope this info. helps. As for the reply regarding breast feeding while receiving this vaccine, I'd check with another doctor. Not to scare you but one of the questions they asked me when I signed up for the vaccine was whether or not I was trying to get pregnant, I'm not sure why they asked that. I said no and that I didn't have kids so the questioning never went any further. Good luck.
So I saw a new dermatologist this past week. After showing her the amount of hair I lose in a week and in particular in a day of washing my hair she said it was abnormal. She was also very concerned about the gardasil vaccine. She mentioned how many negative side effects & deaths have occurred from this vaccine. She also said that you don't see as many commercials for the vaccine anymore. I hadn't thought about that but I don't see all those commercials anymore (the "one less" campaign). I called my OBGYN to see if they are still administering the vaccine and they are. I reported my adverse reaction to Merck and VAERS this past week. The person at Merck was very helpful and didn't seem surprised that I was calling about gardasil. I was sure to tell her about the hair loss, joint pain in lower legs and change in my cycle (not regular anymore-every 28-50 days-I am not on birth control nor have I been for at least 7 yrs. now). She said that hair loss was not one of the listed side effects but she did say that they have been receiving reports of that from other people. I did find out that my OBGYN did not administer the vaccine as recommended. Apparently it is supposed to be administered in the upper arm or thigh, mine was administered in my butt cheek. I don't think this is the reason I'm having the side effects but it is concerning that the drug was administered in a different way than recommended. I knew that my age was outside of the recommended age for the vaccine as I was 31 when I got it. Not sure if this has anything to do with the side effects but I found out from Merck that they are working on testing side effects on women of all ages. As stated before, my OBGYN felt for sure that one day women of all ages would be getting the vaccine and insurance would be paying for it. I am going back to my primary doctor this week to have more blood work done as it has been about a year since my last tests were run. The dermatologist has recommended that I be tested for B-12 and Vitamin D this time in addition to the other tests. I will also be tested for Lupus. Lupus is very hard to diagnose but I am going to start the process of being tested. My blood work from last year did not explain why my hair is falling out (i.e. I wasn't iron deficient and there was no sign of a thyroid condition). I will post again if I find anything out. This is over a year after the last shot of gardasil was administered and I can't believe my hair is still falling out! Good luck to everyone else with this issue.
