If you are taking this medicine, STOP! I took this medicine for about three months. I started to feel like I had a congestion. I cough lightly at first then into a hard cough which progressed into a hacking. My wife thought I was critically ill. I was spitting up clear congestion at work into my garbage can. This stuff is bad, I found this site and stopped taking the medicine. It took 3 week for the cough to subside. It’s been about 4 months, and I would say I am only about 98 percent back to where I started . About every 3 weeks I out of the blue start to slightly hack. I know one thing this is not a good medicine. When I started my BP was 138/109. My doctor told me to try this. Because of this medicine I could not do my job and my doctor never told me it was the medicine. When I told him he told me he didn’t think it was the medicine and prescribe some cold medicine

You now doctors have practically convincd all diabetics to take this drug to prevent kidney damage... well it damaged mine.
There are millions of people taking this drug and I shudder to think of how many of them think they are just getting sicker instead of this snake poison making them sick.
The makers of Lisinopril have been on a big marketing ploy. I am a nurse and out of my five patients today, 3 of them are on Lisinopril.

OMG !! I started taking Lisinopril in April. Around the same time, I was diagnosed with Bronchitis !! The Bronchitis has gone but, this nagging cough with clear mucas is hanging around. I asked my Dr. if it was the medication and he said it was a side effect but, he told me I could have a stroke if I stop taking it. My BP at the time was 163/123 but, now is a good 128/88. He wanted to change my meds but, due to insurance needed generic and he said he basically couldn't help because I needed to stay in the same family of medicine. I feel like I have lost 4 months of my life because I am constantly choking and coughing mucus. I am not sleeping and I am irritating everyone around me. I wonder if I can stop the Lisinopril for a few weeks and move into a different family of BP meds? Not sure how safe it is to be on nothing though? I had no previous history of high BP until I got Bronchitis so, could that have something to do with the high BP? Any help is appreciated.

Well my doctor refused to stop it and I stopped it cold turkey!! I was not putting any more of this poison in my body. I told him he can work with me or I will get another doctor. I know my body and this med was killing me with palpitations and such,. I ended up in the hospital. Trust me there are other drugs out there . Lisinopril is not the be it all heart drug.
It has now been 3 weeks and I can say I am about 75% to where I was before. I out of the blue get that dry nagging cough with the clear mucus, my short of breath is gone. The major symptom I am left with now is joint pain and muscle burning. I also still get that sore throat and lump in the throat that my doctor said was GERD. Now I know it was that damn Lisinopril. I dont need my Prevacid any more.
I am taking magnesium, vitamin c and other vitamins to try and help.
I just hope I dont have any permanent damage muscle or joint damage.
