you probably wont have any side effects for a while, or you may be one of those women that swear they never had any side effects at all... but if u smell down there u should get yourself checked... probably some sort of infection.

i started off fine as well. I have had it for about 3 months. Last month I started to become irritable and have acne trouble. I started an antibiotic this week as well as b12 and I seem myself again. So thus far I am going to stick with it. I just haven't had the trouble like these other women. Maybe this is right for me?

If there is a smell you should go back to your doctor b/c it might have gotten infected during insertion. After I had mine inserted my doctor told me if there is any smelly discharge it could turn into sepsis (a blood infection) so go back to your OB ASAP

I did not have any discharge although I did have a foul odor on and off for the first 3 or so months. I was told that this was normal. There was no infection and I did not have any fever, itching, irritation, etc....just the funky smell. Have not had it since I had the Mirena removed (and never had it prior, either!).
