Hi, I am 25. I have taken omeprazole 20mg. for 4 months for my GERD, and after the fourth month, I started having these abnormal heartbeats. I am really worried if these are side effects of omeprazole, and if this medicine may cause permanent damage to the heart. So I decided to see my PCP and requested a change in medication, so he prescribed me 6 month-refills of Aciphex 20mg. It’s my second week now, and I feel this weird itchy feeling inside my chest. I feel like I am always tired, and breathe hard than usual. Id this a side effect of Aciphex? Should I stop taking Aciphex? And does achiphex damages the heart muscle, or cause CAD?

Stop taking the medicine! I was taking omeprazole for the last two months. I started having a myriad of horrible symptoms. I aksed the pharmacist if any of them could be from the medication and he said thst the only side effects that omeprazole causes are stomach side effects. I also went to my doctor and she basically said the same thing. She ran a bunch of tests but said nothing weas wrong with me. i was having extreme dizziness and tiredness. bad joint pain that was increasing daily. impaired cognitive functioning(this was the most troublesome), severe nausea, blurred and increasingly worsening vision. i also was having heart palpitations. I stopped taking the medication almost two weeks ago. the nausea is gone but I still feel "buzzed" 24/7 and I am hoping it is not permanent. I am
regaining some of my energy. My vision is still a bit blurred. i urge all of you out there to pursue this by telling your doctors about this site. i am going to print this out and give copies to my family doctor, my gastroenterologist, and my pharmacist. They may dismiss it, but maybe they won;t. I am also going to research if there are any lawsuits going on right now pertaining to this and am going to try to find legal counsel.
We cannot let them get away with this! What if this damage is permanent! i feel like I lost a lot of IQ, and am hoping to get it back. I got lost on my way to a clients house the other day and could not remember how to get there! I have been there over 100 times! When I speak I forget what I'm saying mid sentence and forget the names of common things.I try to think of things and figure out common math problems and I am at a total loss. i have always been very sharp. i feel like the damage is no longer progressing, but I do not feel that I am getting back to normal either.
lets all try to do whatever we can so we can save as many people as we can from going through this.
