I had the Mirena put in May'08. I've noticed increased acne, cramping in my legs, and spotting. I am also dealing with symptoms of bladder infections, however, there is no infection. My OBGYN says there is no correlation between the Mirena and my bladder problems, however, the urologist said that the Mirena could cause problems to other organs around the uterus (including the bladder). He stated it could be traumatic to our bodies, causing muscles in our pelvic area to tighten, nerve damage, etc. My OB diagnosed me with Interstitial Cystitis, a disease of the bladder lining that is without a cure, but my urologist didn't buy off on this and so now I'm having other tests done to make sure it's not bladder cancer, etc. Again, my urologist believes it's related to the Mirena. All I know is that I didn't have bladder problems until I had the Mirena inserted, which was the most painful experience aside from giving birth to my children! After reading the postings on this website, I'm definitely removing this device from my body ASAP! Good luck to all of you women who have had similar experiences. I pray that our bodies will return to some sense of normalcy.

I to had the Mirena inserted this year. July 08' was to be exact.. Beside the horrible pain through the insertion, I've had horrible cramps, pain in my side, and a fever...Of course ive requested this be taken out to my Dr. and he acts as though the symptons im having are not related to the Mirena.. It's funny that i never had any of these problems until the very day i had the Mirena put in...I do not recommend this product to any woman out there. It's made these past weeks, horrible and long...I hope your health returns to normal once you remove this horrible, birth control device...

I too HAd mirena put in this year and have had very long periods, painful sex and lots of weight gain! I was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis years ago and it kind of faded over the years (or I just got used to it) and I jst said to myself gezz my Interstitial seems to be worse again! Never thought it could be from Mirena also my kidneys have hurt since it was put in!

I have been dealing with what I presumed was post-coital UTI's, but my urine was always normal. It coincided to having the mirena. I am in the process of seeing a urologist to rule out nerve problems, cancer, etc. I just had my Mirena removed because my midwife thought it totally possible it was because of the IUD.

I'm having the exact same problem. i'm getting mad at the three different doctors i've seen because they tyhink i'm paranoid. They said "your 26 your bodies changing." I was so mad because i know this is not normal. I put mine in end of April 08. three months later constant bladder problems where they could find nothing wrong. Its so uncomfortable with antibiotics it did go away but it kept coming back. I don't know if i should have a general aistetic to get it out cause it was so painful to put in i thought i was gonna die.
