I have had mirena since Mar 07 and I also have pain during interc...

I got my IUD August 13 2007 (after the birth of my daughter in June) and I have had discharge ever since! I always have to wear a liner or a light tampon. My face has also been broken out and I have the sharp pains as well. I have NO sex drive at all. I am thinking of getting it removed but what birth control comes with little or no side effects? I called my OB about the discharge and they explained that is was normal and in fact, part of how the Mirena works! Gross huh? You produce more mucus thus blocking the sperm from fertilizing somehow. My OB didn't go over anything about the Mirena with me prior to having it inserted. I mentioned hearing about it and she said sure we'll do that! lol Sorry hun I feel your pain. Good luck! I had mirena placed 5/12/08. went well. been fine until about 2wks ago. now have lots of clear gooey discharge, cramping, back pain, nausea, fatigue, burning when i pee, and everything gets alot worse after sex. everything ilooked up says PID(pelvic inflammatory disease). if u have discharge it is one of first signs and PID is very common with mirena. And wonderfully PID cause scar tissue on the repro organs which leads to infertlity!! I would get it checked out right away. If infection very bad, they will remove mirena. Hope, all goes well!!!!
