Get your mother to read this. Stop taking the medicine and ask for something safer. There are othere medications that don't have all these risks and dont' have warnings that someone under 18 should not have it. Your risk from this poison is far greater than the infection you have. Tell your mother to please read some of the remarks on this website and if that's not enough go to www.fqvictims.org
I totally agree with the previous messanger - your mother should also read the messages and as many as possible.
It`s your body and you are the best to understand how you feel.
I have not taken this medication but a close friend did.
That made me turn to the Internet for information.
I also found some useful webb-sites and books:
Bitter Pills (Stephen Fried)
www.fqresearch.org
www.fqvictims.org
There are lots of information and also patient testimonials.
Right now I have stared an interesting book "Medication madness" by Peter R. Breggin.
It`s mostly about what antidepressants, sleeping pills, tranquiliezers and neuroleptics can do to you.
But he also writes about ordinary medications which can cause psyciatric symptoms.
One group that can do that is quinolone antibiotics.
Levaquin, among others, belongs to that group.
Here are som sentences from his book
"Anbiotic Madness"
"Hardly anyone thinks of antibiotics as potentially dangerous psychoactive drugs but many of them are."
"Pennsylvania attorney Derek Braslow told me about the case of the thirty-nine year old police officer with no history of mental disturbances who became psychotic while taking Levaquin for a cold."
"Levaquin is a member of the quinolone family, a group that is known to cause severe emotional reactions."
Always look for information if you have to take any medications.
Finally I would like to recommend a book that gives an overall view - Overdosed America by Johan Abramson.
Good luck!
Rapid heart beat is one of the side effect of taking Levaquin. You can find more information on other side effects that will probably occur with Levaquin at http://www.internationaldrugmart.com/levaquin.html
Hope you got help. I went crazy also. I'm a 54 year old accountant. I'm not normally crazy but I was on Levaquin. I ended up in the ER after taking it.
Hi, I'm a 26 year old female. I took it years ago for pneumonia and an infection which resulted in some bad side effects, but I was also on some other medications as well. From what I could tell though, my symptoms were probably the result of the levoquin. I recently was prescribed cipro and had an even worse experience. I came off of it and feel a lot better. Hopefully you will too once it is out of your system. I really felt for your case and just wanted to tell you that I'm going to be praying for you. I'll add you to my list and pray every night for at least a week. May you turn to Jesus Christ and find peace.
Hopefully, your mom will read these posts. Your symptoms are very similar to mine. I was hospitalized for 4 days and the headaches were crippling! I still have pain in my hips from it and this is after 8 months. Good Luck!
Hi there, my name is Jackie, and I took Levaquin 500mg for only four days, from 8/24/8-8/27/8. I had all the side effects you had, plus hallucinations, pain everywhere, fell out of my chair, was laughing for about two days from imaginary voices I thought I heard, still can't get my words out right, have extreme sensitivity to light and sound, insomnia, feel like I've gone crazy, nightmares, night sweats, low grade fever, rashes everywhere, joints and muscles hurt, low blood sugar, increased panic attacks, forgetting to take my anxiety/pain meds, and so much more. The only side-effects I didn't have were nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting, which most antibiotics usually cause. This time, I wish that I had only had those side-effects. The worst thing is the hallucinations. It has been almost two weeks, and the stuff is still messing with my head. I have had CT scans, including one on my brain today. The doctors are giving me every test known to man, and it seems to be so they can say that my symptoms were not cause by Levaquin. I also want to know, does this stuff ever leave your system??? I feel like I want to die. Hang in there; hopefully somebody will sue those idiots who sell Levaquin. It really shouldn't be on the market for anyone. It's the Death Drug. Good luck, from Jackie B.
