Has anyone experienced Melasma with this drug? I am trying to identify if this is the cause of my melasma, because it worsened when we increased from dose from 150 up to 250mg a day.

I came across this post because I was looking for info on getting rid of the dark spots on my upper lip. I thought I was just getting old, and had too much sun, but I started Yaz about 5 months ago. I'm starting to think that's what made it worse. It also lowered my sex drive too. So I'm going to drop it for now.

Check out this forum:

There are quite a few mentions of Melasma and Yaz.

I first started getting melasma on my face after starting Lamictal. It never occurred to me until recently that the drug could have something to do with it. I've been doing some research on it lately and it seems very possible that the lamictal is the cause of it. Unfortunately I take it to treat borderline personality disorder and am afraid to stop taking it.

hi, I have been taking Lamictal for 3 years and I am experiencing melasma now for the first time in my life. However, I am also taking oral contraceptives which are common melasma triggers, plus I was exposed to a lot of sun. Given the amount of people that have reported this side effect in this website, I think it might be quite rare, and perhaps it's only due to the combination of Lamictal with other things. I'd rather have the melasma than stop Lamictal. I won't get off the contraceptives either, although they are the most probable cause.
