sasquatches_mom - I'm the same exact way. I too have been on it since '98 and consider it my miracle drug. I was diagnosed at age 12 and doctors said I'd outgrow it by 18. I didn't. Instead, by age 17, my asthma kept getting worse; I had been in the hospital 3 times for my asthma. Since taking Singulair starting in '98, I have gone from using my rescue inhaler 4-5 times a week to now, maybe once every 4-5 months. It has had dramatic improvement on my asthma, though I started it just shy of being an "adult" in year terms so I am hesitant about prescribing it for children given how many people here and elsewhere have had difficulties with it. If anything, they should remove the CHILD market for Singulair but keep it for us adults who have used it with nothing more than experiencing positivity from it.
p.s. - I also cannot do Advair (the purple disc). That one causes my heart to race higher than if I were to run a marathon.
I doubt very much that it will be removed from the market as it is a huge money maker,i have no doubt your experiance has been positive as it did work for my sons asthma to,all we would like to see is full disclosure of the side effects and doctors to believe you and guide you when you have a side effect. For 3 years my son saw psych doc after psych doc,was admitted to a psych hospital for 12 days yet nobody mentioned it could be the singulair when the information was out there,i only ask that we be able to make informed desissions,he has been off singulair now for 4 months,no asthma no depression and no more psych docs
