Honestly thank you for this website! I mentally feel better if not physically yet. I was prescribed 3 day/2 dose Bactrim for a UTI. I have NEVER had a reaction to antibiotics or any type of medicine. I can no longer say that. That said...thought I was dying. My temperature was 102 for days, every muscle in my body felt so sore I felt like a car had hit me and then hit me again, ridiculous size headache, massive stomach pain, insomnia, thought I would faint every time I stood up, could barely walk, no appetite, etc. It was ridiculous and I thought I was going crazy because how can one medicine do all that?? I now have a whole new respect for antibiotics. Since I was feeling so horrible by the 2nd day on it I went ahead and finished the last day. (hindsight probably stupid) This is my first day off and all my muscles are still killing me, especially my neck, chest, stomach, back. Still feel weak and my temp. this morning was 101 and went down to 100 now. And I don't know if it was the medicine or just being sick but I've been so 'out of it' today and just depressed. I can not WAIT for this medicine to be out of my system! And I will never use it again. To add insult to injury I'm not sure if it cured the UTI all the way. Not running to the restroom but still have slight (non-painful) tingle down there.

I took bactrim in Jan 2007 and my muscles still hurt ocassionally. I feel like i have fibromyalgia (but never diagnosed that) IT WAS DEFINITELY FROM THE BACTRIM. i was prescribed 2x/day for 10 days by the 16th dose i was ready to die. i actually laid in bed and said God if you are going to take me please do it now. i was in horrible pain. it took about 8 months to recover to actually feel like i could do something. to this day i still feel like crap. the only remedy is stay active. i ride my bike, i drink lots of water, i take vitamins and eat lots of yogurt. BACTRIM IS DEADLY... it should be taken off of the market!! I was never allergic to anything in my life and that almost killed me literally. it actually has killed, and is banned in the uk... READ UP on http://briandeer.com/bactrim-septra.htm, i scared myself to death and figured at some point i was gonna die. well im still here 18months later but i still feel like crap sometimes!!! i will never be truly rid of the side effects!!

And p.s. I did find out the Bactrim did NOT clear up my UTI at all.

Have to also note-- the emergency room doctor said it wasn't the Bactrim but the UTI spreading throughout my blood. Frankly I think that is complete bs.

My "thought I was literally dying symptoms" came on IMMEDIATELY (within minutes) after the first dose of Bactrim and I felt worse (if that was possible) after each subsequent dose.

My UTI turned into a kidney infection days later, because the Bactrim didn't work to clear it up, but I find it impossible to believe that I take a strong medicine and within minutes get massively sick for days and that medicine has nothing to do with it? I don't think so.

I am now on my last day of bactrium and feel very down. Yesterday the muscle pain in my legs were so sever I almost ran to the ER. That said i have a case of cystitis and last week spent two days straight in the ER. I was bleeding heavily from my bladder caused by a uti. This never happened to me but i have had a long history of taking antibiotics but i never experienced something like this. I am really shocked it is in the market.
