I started taking 10 mg. of Lisinopril on July 8, 2008. At first, I experienced extreme fatigue and weakness. However, this wore off after a few days. The dosage was increased to 20 mg. on July 21, 2008. I started having horrible symptoms on July 29, 2008: rapid pulse (as high as 118 b.p.m. while I was quietly reading), heaviness in my chest (which felt worse after I exercised), and shortness of breath. I had never felt so bad before in my entire life!!! I suffered with these symptoms until August 15, 2008 because I was hoping that they were just temporary. Unfortunately, they only got worse the longer that I waited. It is such a shame, too, because Lisinopril really did a good job of keeping my b.p. down. This is the third day that I haven't taken Lisinopril, and I am feeling a little better. I am now on Metoprolol, which is helping with my rapid pulse. For those of you who experienced breathing problems while taking Lisinopril: How long did it take before your breathing returned to normal?

I started taking lisinopril on April 7, by June I couldn't get that deep breath like when you yawn, but felt like I needed to, my pulmonary dr. said it will take 6 weeks at least for the ace inhibitor to get out of my body....I have 3 weeks to go....The worse thing is talking, it makes me need a breath more often, and also when I lay down at nite, I take sleep meds, ambian, and usually I can fall asleep in about 30 min. and sleep thru the nite....There were times when I thought I would lose my mind....some days I get the breath easy and some days its more frequent, and some days I can pace for 100 steps before I get the breath I need. I see my pulmonary dr. again on Sept 30...he says the ace inhibitors are interferring with the enzyme produced in my throat...he has been given me meds for LPR reflux, also has me on xanax with is helping the emotional part....when I would try to talk to someone, I would start to cry....now I don't cry, but try to keep from talking as much as possible...Sorry been so lengthy.....I hope you get well soon.

good luck
