I am a 51 year old male. November 2007 jaw pain sent me to the hospital where they found a 99% block in my right coronary artery, yep 4 stent's. Three month late the same this time 2 stent's and two weeks later 2 more. I now have 8 stent's. My DR. put me on several meds including Zocor. The zocor made me very tired and headaches. He change it to Lipitor 10mg. I have been on it for 7 months and a few day's ago I have notice pain in both knee's and hip. I once again find it hard to concentrate, feel sluggish and have headache's. I NEVER have headache's. Stopped taken the Lipitor, hope the pain goes away. It a shame that the medical field is so quick to put us ALL on drug's, how about herb's instead. I'm going to look into a natural way to lower my cholesterol.

You were smart to stop taking the poison (Lipitor). I wasn't so smart . . . . I took that dangerous drug for 8 years and now I have many side effects, even since I stopped it 6 months ago. After doing a lot research, there are many products to control your cholesterol. Yes, it is sad that the drs. push drugs, instead alternatives. That's all they know.

Good for you in stopping the lipitor. Try not to be too concerned about cholesterol since the link between cholesterol and heart disease has not been proven. Higher cholesterol levels are associated with longevity, but this is info the drug companies do not want you to hear. After much study, I now understand why people with higher cholesterol live longer. Also, the Grennland eskimos have higher "Bad cholesterol" and higher total cholesterol than western societies, but heart disease for those eskimos is very very small. Only 3%. The marine oils are credited for their low incudence of heart disease.

I totally agree with the signature Bobby.

Try not to be concerned about your cholesterol levels.

I have never been.

May be
because I saw relatives suffer from side effects of statins and other medications.

There is far too little discussion about the benefits/risks.

Have you ever thought about who is doing the studies/or paying for them, at least to a very large extent?

Please "educate" yourself - here are som sites:

www.ravnskov.nu
www.things.org
www.spacedoc.net

Also google for "Stopped our statins". Under print articles - there is a very informative article from The Weston Price Foundation.

Some books of interest.

For more information about them -
google the titles and names of the authors:

The Cholesterol Myths (Uffe Ravnskov)

The Great Cholesterol Con (Anthony Colpo)

The Truth About The Drug Companies (Marica Angell)

Overdosed America (John Abramson)

Malignant Medical Myths (Joel F. Kauffman)

There are many more.

It`s the pharmaceutical companies that have the money to "brainwash" the public about the benefits.

They seldom talk about the risks.

They do - but only about the risks of having having blood pressure and dito cholesterol!

Unfortunately I was too quick.

I now discovered a spelling mistake in one of the webb-sites.

Should be www.thincs.org

Theres another risk factor that also links to heart disease.did you ever check for C-REACTIVE PROTEIN and homocyctein high level of this is the major cause for heart disease ,homocyctein can be easliy lowered by vitamin B6 and B12.high cholestrol is not only links for atherseclorosis.and also high blood pressure and diabete.anyways other natral alternative for lowering cholestrol is to take some herbal .like ginger which reduce inflamation ,garlic.and turmeric and fenugreek tea are very helpful for bringing down the cholestrol and are very potant, but fenugreek tea also reducing blood sugar dramatically,so adjust the dosage.personally i had high cholestrol 6.2 and i lowered to 4.3 in 2 months with the use of these herbs and they are very safe.by the way my father is the victim of lipitor.
