I have been on Yasmin for a little of a year now and I have not felt like myself since then. I moved to Germany at the same time I started this pill. So I thought all of my side effects where from getting used to a new place. I have been suffering from periods of depression, BIG mood swings, reduction in sex drive, headaches, dizziness, and a reduction in energy levels. I have broken down and yelled at my husband for being German and making me live in Germany which is NOT me at all! I am from a military family and I enjoy new places. Last week I had a big heart palpitation, I felt like I was going to faint and I felt like I could not get my heart under control! I felt like it was a heart attack and I am only 22 years old! I have gone to the doctors so many times and he said nothing is wrong. It is only today I found out it was due to Yasmine! I am so shaky and I feel sick, my heart feels really bad with a continuation of small heart palpitations, and my emotions are out of control! I was an athlete and extremely healthy before I started taking this pill and now I feel like a train wreck!
I went on Microgynon when I was 18 to start a sexual relationship. I was on it for 2 years fine with no problems that I knew of. My skin has always been bad and when I went to the doctor at 20 she said she would switch me to this 'wonderpill' Yasmin. It didnt really help my skin but I never changed back because I figured it was all the same. For a few years now i've always felt like I was sick and tired. I dont seem to ever be happy and i'm constantly down or getting pains etc.I have also put on almost 2 stone. I just stopped the pill 4 days ago after 7 years and came online to get some advice and after reading this I'm hoping in a weird way that is what has been wrong with me. The pill was a life saver to me because ever since 11, i would have to take a day of school every month it was so bad for me. If this is why I have been down for years I would much rather have one or two days of agony that a lifetime of depression.
A few months after starting Yasmin, I began getting migraines. Overtime, they increased in severity and frequency (to the point that I was crying from pain for 3 straight days). I complained to my primary care physician & was put on migraine medication. At first it helped & later on, it didn't. After being on Yasmin for 2.5 years, my sister in law suggested that maybe Yasmin was to blame for the migraines (which by then occurred 2-3 times a month for 3 day intervals). I stopped Yasmin in May of this year and have not had one migraine since!!! :O).
