PLEASE do not give anymore of this poison to your child!! If the dr. argues with you FIRE HIM!!! During the course of my research I have seen many articles that advise against giving this class of antibiotics to children. Read these postings and see the havoc it wreaks on adults. I can't imagine how terrifying it would be for a child. Good luck and file a medwatch report on the FDA website.
The use of these drugs in the pediatric population is NOT an approved use. For the very reason that you risk crippling the child for life. They are ONLY to be prescibed to a child on a compasionate basis when the child is at risk of losing life or limb. What kind of quack would prescribe this for sinus infection when there are so many other safer alternatives in which such use is approved and put a child at such an unreasonable risk?
WHAT!!! What doctor would prescribe this medicine to a 10 year old?? There are strict warnings not to be taken by those under 18. As soon as I got out of the hospital after my bout with Levaquin, I called my children's pediatrician and said that I want it listed in their charts that they are never to be prescribed this medication. Their response is that it is not for kids so don't worry. If I were you, I would question the doctor. Hopefully, your son/daughter doesn't have any lasting effects. I still have hip pain after 8 months!
