I thought I was well informed too but was completely floored by the adverse effects of this device. I think the synthetic hormone is too strong for our bodies. I wish you well and hope it works for you
I, too, think the hormone is too strong. All the "official" info states that the progesterone stays local....this is obviously not true or all these side effects outside of that immediate area wouldn't be happening. Other studies that I've read have also indicated that the level of this hormone in blood tests have found it to be as much as 2 mini (POP) pills. If you are sensitive to progesterone, as I am, this is WAY too much. Many doctors thought this was the end-all form of birth control....but it has caused a lot of us a lot of problems. Fortunately my doctor did not dispute that the Mirena was causing these side effects for me and took it out without further debate, unlike the experience of many others on this board. I do hope that you have good luck with it....but if you start having problems that you didn't have pre-Mirena, at least you know to connect it.
