I had the mirena put in about 5 months ago. I've had the annoying period side effects, having it last for 2 weeks or more. But, for about 2 months now I've been battling yeast/bacterial infections. I have never had a bacterial infection in my life!! I just googled bacterial infections and mirena and I'm shocked to see how many people are suffering from this! Plus, I've had severe mood swings and I've been trying to figure out why I feel like a crazy woman all of the time. I was prescribed clindesse for the bacterial infection, which gave me a yeast infection, after 3 yeast treatments and a diflucan I feel once again like I have a bacterial infection. I don't think that this is all coincidental considering that this is the first time in my life that I've had to deal with odor, discharge, bacteria etc. I'm getting this thing out!!

I would get it out ASAP.
Mirena is BAD News I had most of the side effects as well.
Good Luck.
Google, mirena side effects.sampasite and have a look at some of the horror stories there.

I just got the mirena almost 2 weeks ago and i feel horrible. The doctor says after 3 months it will get better. I hope so. I too woke up today & have an odor, so I know I have a bacterial infection.I'm very tired also. I have taken flagyl in the past for a bacteria infection. You might want to recommend that. Are you having headaches too?
