my mom just tapered off prednisone from a 3 year on and off long term usage. the docs say she is done now with any more prednisone, she was being treated for Wegener's Disease. She is experiencing manic episodes, depression, and hallucinations in which she describes the "devil" getting to her, wanting to do harm to those around her, actually seeing these things play out in her head. I asked her if she would feel relief if she followed thru with these thoughts, and she said yes. I realized at that point just how bad it was...been doing a lot of research, there are psychosis drugs that can offset these symptoms. We are going to talk to her main doc asap. What I can't figure out is, why in the world would every doctor not be REQUIRED to verbally, not with a pamphlet, but verbally tell every patient that he prescribes to, the potential side effects and long term effects. I will keep you, and everyone that has had awful experiences with the drug, in my prayers.
