It took a little over 3 months for the full effects to wear off for my son.
Like your daughter, my son was placed on Singulair at around the age of 4 for mild asthma. He is now 8. He exhibited severe mood swings, anger, aggression, depression, suicidal thoughts, a belief that no one loved him. The doctors kept telling us it was his personality and we were looking into causes.
One day last spring my husband met someone that is a Singulair pharm representative. He mentioned the concerns about the medication people were raising. That was the moment my husband realized this drug was most likely the cause of my son's problems. We stopped giving him the medication that night.
My son was off of the medication for about 2 months and was showing remarkable improvement emotionally. Sadly, he went through a period of mild asthma attacks this summer and we placed him on the Singulair again since the doctors assured us it was okay. Within a week he had regressed. The smallest concern would set him off. Then came the day he threatened to commit suicide saying he just wanted to die. The pills went into the trash that day. We now control his asthma on an as needed basis with an inhaler. And he is a happy child again. You would never he was so sad and depressed only a few short months ago.
That day we also pulled my daughter off of her nightly dose of allergy medications. Because of our experience with Singulair, we are afraid of any preventative medications right now.
