You are experiencing a phenomena caused by this drug that is called angioedema. It can be fatal as your throat can close up. Get off this drug now as you are allergic to it. People have died. Call your doctor.
this is an uncommon, but real, side effect of ace inhibit. it is called "angio edema." this is a reason to be taken off of this type of medication. while ace's are great at reducing blood pressure and usually have low side effects, this along with a "cough" are reasons that this med. is stopped. micardis has a program called "mycard" which allows you to get the medication at any dosage for $20 a month for a year. if your provider is not aware of this program ask them to contact the local rep for micardis and they will provide the office w/the cards. i hope this helps.

For god's sake dump your doctor. He/she hasn't a clue. You are having an allergic reaction, angioedema that can be life-threatening. Stop taking Lisinopril - it's the cause. Find a complementary physician that will help you treat your BP with natural herbs and lifestyle changes before dangerous drugs. If the swelling seems bad on the outside - it's what's going on inside that's the real cause of worry - internal HIVES from the snake venom this crap is made from.
I have been working very hard trying to lose weight this year. I have lost 50lbs since March, 2008. I even just won the "Biggest Loser" contest at the gym that I go to daily. I lost 27lbs in 2 months! The day after the contest was over, I was swiched to this medication. I became very lithargic, falling asleep in the afternoons for about 3 hours, and still being tired when I woke up. My knees and hips were very painful, my hands would swell so badly in the mornings that I could barely close my hands. The worst thing was gaining FIVE POUNDS in just FOUR days!!! I was still watching my diet, going to the gym for 1 1/2 hours twice a day and swimming for about an hour a day! I was so upset I started crying at the Gym. The poor people that worked there didn't realy know what to do for me. I'm always the cheerful one, smiling and laughing. They were all great at thying to cheer me up. I went to the Doctors on today, and waited there until He changed my medication! I'm hoping for a better result with the new one. If not, I'll be camping out on his doorstep again......... Sandy
I was on Lisinopril for two weeks, and my lips were swollen double, with redness, irritation, burning. My primary care physician sent me to an allergist, who says that one of the components of Lisinopril stays in your system for an undetermined time. He has given me prednisone, but I have not had enough to tell if it is helping. My physician has already noted on my records that I cannot take ace inhibitors. I do not think all health professionals are aware of the side effects of Lisinopril, because I tried to get some help on this condition when my primary care doctor was out of town, and received none.
Yes, Im going to the Doctor today and plan to change medication or completely go off Lisinopril or anything like it. I have had different parts of my face swell up and yes including my lips most recent. So I completely understand what you have experienced, and are going through. Go on the web site www.livestrong.com and search side affects of lisinopril, and read the many other side affects, it will blow your mind !!! Wish you the best, and God Bless !!!!

richardr . . . .when you see your dr. today . . .he/she will mostly give you another drug for high blood pressure . . .since that's all drs. know . . .push drugs. There are natural products for high blood pressure issues . . .instead of taking drugs that cause many side effects.
