it can cause a cough or "rough voice." before just stopping it you need to have your medical provider give you another type of blood pressure medication (not another ACE inhib.) ARBs are a great option that do not cause these types of side effects, they lower blood pressure well and are protective of your renal function. usually after you stop your lisinopril it takes 2 -4 weeks for the cough or "rough" voice to stop. there is a build of of bradykinin in your lungs that causes this symptom. this build up is caused by the medication. it causes no long term side effects. i hope this helps.

these are probably not related to lisinopril. w/o knowing your complete medical hx it's hard to diag. exactly what these symptoms could be. you should probably schedule a check up to insure that you don't have some other things going on. i'm assuming that you have high blood pressure, which alone is a risk factor for heart dz. any fatigue and left arm pain or symptoms should be checked out as it can be symptoms of ischemia in the vessels in your heart.

My doctor put me on angiotensin receptor Cozaar and I took one pill and started itching and I stopped urinating. Take control of your health and research and research before taking these pills.
Try lifestyle chahges to help reduce the medicines that you take.

I have been off of it for 3 days now and i am feeling better but not great. I am so glad you found the site and got off the meds. It does truly poison your system. I hope you continue to get better.

This is not in your head. The hoarse throat you describe is actually HIVES. Internal hives from an allergic reaction to the snake venom this crap is made from. If you're blood pressure is not extreme, then seek out natural remedies, my advice - find a complementary doctor who will work with natural herbs and supplements before resorting to drastic drugs. Once you stop it, the hives should go away, but if you want relief sooner, then Marshmallow herb (not the campfire candy) should help alleviate your symptoms.

I went off lisinopril on 8/26/08. The dry cough has subsided but now I have a cold. To tell you the truth, I prefer the cough from the cold over that dry cough any day!!!!! I am sooooooooooo happy to be off of that poison!!!!!

"Churchgirl" said her voice quality had been affected and now I wonder about my hoarseness (I, too am a choir member) and constant runny nose, never having had any allergies or hoarseness before my Dr. gave this to me. I have been taking the herb hawthorn and am going to stop the Lisinopril & see what happens. This is now the only drug I take so I will report back with results.

I started taking Lisinopril 10 days ago, and within a day felt dizziness as well as sore throat and cough. I am a high-level amateur singer, and I have been completely unable to sing. I stopped it 6 days ago, and so far my voice has not come back. I have tried a couple of days of medium steroid dose (Medrol) with no luck.

WOW, I have just been put on Lisinopril 40 mg. I feel like I will die. I am so sleepy and sluggish. Need Sleep Bad, got about 12 hours of sleep yesterday. Have Chest Pain, toe pain, had hand and foot numbness, that seems to be gone. I am trying to wait about another week before I really come off of this stuff. I have a few moments of energy, I get excited only to feel zapped a few minutes later. When I talk to the Dr. they seem to think it's in my HEAD, go figure. My pressure is to high for me to just stop taking it. But I sure want a med that will not make me feel like this. Afraid to try anything else.
