I have been drinking Aloe Juice and it is helping too. It heals from the inside out.
I took Benadryl for the cough and scratch that could have helped the allergic reaction.
An update to my mother's progess can be found at floxintoxin.com weekly report #7. All is well, after a few bumpy patches. The Marshmallow has worked magic and healed her insides. We researched and found several natural supplements that seem to be working magic with her blood pressure. She is able to pee normally again (hoo-ray!).
A note on people who have posted comments. I respect your input, however, I must make a couple of comments. On the one suggesting Aloe Juice, I'm glad it's working for you. My mother has faithfully taken one Aloe Vera pill a day for 5 years, so it didn't help her, perhaps because there wasn't enough of it, I don't know. On the one who took Benedryl, if it helped you then that is also great, however, people with blood pressure should watch carefully because it can cause it to climb up.
Now, for my mother's story in her own words:
Lisinopril taken for 92 days. I was prescribed this medication when I visited the doctor for a bladder infection as I was told I also had high blood pressure. No tests were done except for a urine test at that time and no follow up tests were done later. This drug not only gave me a slew of other side effects but pushed my simple bladder infection to where I no longer urinated in a normal manner regardless of the amount of fluid I added. Only after discontinuing this drug did normal urination return after a few days.
Allergic reactions were as follows. Severe debilitating stomach cramping resulting in swelling of the abdomen, and all digestive organs. Angioedema. (no pre history of this) Urine flow continued to lessen even with increased fluid intake, resulting in bladder pain and a sensation of bladder being pushed from the body. Lack of energy, flu like symptoms, insomnia, leg cramps, many bouts of rapid heart beat, some lasting for awhile, even after stopping the drug. Lack of appetite and a change in taste buds. I had several bouts of angioedema but thought it was 'something I ate, stress etc'. Each bout increased in severity leaving me lying debilitated on the couch for four days, eventually for a full week until my daughter began thoroughly investigating this drug only to discover that Lisinopril was the true cause. The warnings with this drug are not very explanatory and leave so much out that should be for patients to read and digest to make their own health decisions. I would not have continued with this drug so long had they been properly written. "Side effects are rare" isn't good enough and white washing major symptoms like, light coughing and stomach problems, don't provide a true picture for those of us who may be sensitive to this drug causes us prolonged pain and suffering and could be fatal to those not as healthy. We are not children who need to be told what to do as we can make good decisions with the proper knowledge. Our body health is our right!
It took several days of self help and herbal remedies to return my body back to normal and I have now started a herbal remedy for my blood pressure which is working well. Too many medical practitioners hand out serious drugs without telling patients to try something less detrimental to their health before resorting to drugs that could be lethal weapons.
Let our lessons be warnings to those who follow. I hope you will not suffer the same from blindly following any doctor's advice without doing your own research beforehand. Remember, YOU call the shots with YOUR healthcare.
