I am a new user of Topamax for my headaches. I am afraid of all the side effects. Is it true you really loose weight and have some memory loss. I have notice my bowel movement have been very loose. I have headaches at least three days in a row non stop. Unfortunately, I cannot stop working. I think topamax is the only medicine that really only helps me prevent my severe headaches....

My name is Jennie and I to am experiencing the same side affects. Its like I almost lost my mind. It's hard when I walk out of one room to go get something and five to ten seconds I can't even remember what I was going to do. This has been ongoing since I took this medicine. I don't know what to do. I became very dizzy, unable to judge the distance between myself and other objects. Something is wrong with this drug and it is being ignored.

This is Alean adding to my previous post with a new symptom. I am no longer able to control my bowls, when I think I am passing gas, I am doing the other. If I go to burp I actually throw up. Topamax has a help line and I called to discuss the other problems I was having with them and the advice given was talk to the doctor. The doctor refuse to take me off this medicine. I started a couple a days ago with the uncontrollable bowls and the throwing up every time I burp. The first day it happen I thought I had eaten something that gave me diarrhea but the problem is still there so now I am buying adult diapers. Also I have to sit with a trash can within reach because all day long I burp and throw-up at the same time . I have decided to call the FDA this morning and seek legal help. I will see my general physician this morning for guidiance on getting off this medicine. If I have to go back on codine everyday so be it. Topamax is not worth the risk or the side affects. I just hope mine are repairable.

This is Alean again I went to my general physician today who immediately took me off the Topamax. He thinks my problem was acidosis and prescrided some medicine to reduce that. The Topamax will cause metabolic acidosis that left untreated could kill you.The first signs was what seemed to me was reflux but then the diarrhea started. I was well on my way. Well I have a headache today . I will let you all know if those symptoms are improving.
