I have had all the side effects on 10 mg of lipitor for 13 years. My new doctor told me to get off "TOPROL" and take Bystolic (a new blood pressure reducer). My doctor believes its the blood pressure medication and not the Lipitor. Anybody has thoughts on this?

Although I stopped taking this dangerous drug 7 mos. ago, I still have many side effects. Recently, a new dr. wanted to push me to taking another statin, even though I am still suffering with various side effects. Unfortunately, drs. don't know anything about the side effects from the statins. All they know is to push drugs. I tried to tell my new dr. to look on medications.com, it was useless. There are natural products to lower your blood pressure.

13 years is a long time to have taken a statin, inhibiting coQ10 production as well as inhibiting cholesterol which your body needs. Don't be surprised by your doctor being unaware of statin side effects.

I have been complaining about Lipitor, stopped it and than doctor encouraged me to go back on it again. Went back to my past RX and found that I had a nose bleed
and other problems that I could not control such as edema in my legs that I could not control. Have not been able to lose weight
even an ounce in several years. Found the rx that I took was a pharmacy error. 40 mg instead of 20 mg. went back to 20 mg and was removed from my norvasc and toprol
and starated bystolic which reduced my legs
immediately and saw a 2 # wt change in one week. Due to start Cozaar this coming week.
I hope this is a safe route to take.
