Hello. I commiserate with you. I started Lisinopril in Novevmber as a preventative ACE inhibitor for my diabetes. Exactly 91 days later I started with hives. That was Feb 08. It is now Sept 08 and I am still having hive outbreaks every 7-10 days although I stopped the drug i Feb after I discovered it was the most likely culprit. I now take doxepin (an antidepressant) not because of the psyche relations but because it has a hidden side affect of antihystamine. It seems to be helping in that I don't have to take prednisone more than 1x per week now.
My endo was not happy i was on the meds since my kidneys are fine and felt my GP did the wrong thing putting me on it. Now I find that I am ultra-sensative to anything with niacin in it -- spaghetti sauce is the worst. I am guaranteed to have a severe hive outbreak within 5 hours of eating.
Good luck to you. I hope this helps you with your issues.
Thanks for the info. I'm not sure what is causing my problems, but I stopped the Lisinopril as a start. It's strange, but the rash seems to be clearing up, then comes back as bad as it was before. I have started rotating treatments from triple antibiotic ointment, to medicated powders to a jock itch cream to diaper rash ointment, and it seems as long as I keep changing from one to anpther, it has been getting better (slowly for sure). I am on lisilopril for high blood pressure, but I think I am going to have my doctor find me another med that doesn't have the problems lisinopril does.
Good luck with your problems, as I'm sure it's not going to be an easy trip.
