15 years ago, at the age of 35, I had a major heart attack. After testing, the doctors decided I needed a quadruple bi-pass operation, followed by Lipitor, among other things. I was taking 20mg (the doctor ordered 40mg), but due to financial reasons I took only half. Everything was just great for 15 years. During a routine annual physical this year, my doctor noticed that my liver enzymes were off the chart high. He immediately had me discontinue the Liptor, but stay on all of my other medications. One month later, my liver enzymes were normal, and so was everything else; however, my cholesterol had climbed to 204, and I eat no meat, eggs, or other dairy products. They say my liver damage is permanent. Having had 4 lumbar surgeries and 1 cervical surgery to fuse disks in my spine, I have always attributed my back and other muscle pains to that. Now that I have been of the Lipitor for 3 months, I have not noticed in decrease in pain in these areas.

lipitor really have serious side effect and it will gradually start for those who are in low does but with high dose could same week or months.but every body who take lipitor or other cholestrol lowering medication will end up with seious muscle damage including(heart) which is a muscle.and being for longer period could end up with heart failer.so risk is too much rather than benefit but it is totally up to you. it is better to see nutrionist and herbalist coz we do have some cure in natures too my father is the victim of lipitor and also heart patiant 3 bypass.but he stopped the all cholestrol drugs coz all had same reaction but he is controlling his cholestrol by food like turmeric powder this is greatest natures herbs it not only lowered his cholestrol but also relieve his prostate problem too ,turmeric is anti inflamatory it has many benefitlike(lowering cholestrol, anti inflamatory, anti couglant, and also curing liver disease).and another thing is fenugreek tea which is dramatically dropping cholestrol and blood sugar ,and ginger too and also for my father herbalist gave milk thistle to clean his liver .milk thistle is not only detoxing but regenrate new liver cell.search on the net if you intersted . by the way carbohydrate is also converting to blood fat too much of them so try to limit intake of too much breads, pasta, starch, coz all of them can raise blood cholestrol but not lean meat.i hope it is helping you.good luck

Your cholesterol of 204 is not high. Good that you stopped this dangerous drug. I stopped taking it 7 mos. ago and I still have many side effects. I have read it could take 1-2 years to get rid of this poison in your system. There are many natural products and alternative treatments to help you.

Good luck.

Do you think it is the medicine that made your other pains (back etc) or not the medicine? I was preparing myself for a second hip replacement, the pain and the tears were something else. I didn't want to have to go through this again as at 7 months I hadn't fully recovered from my first replacement. Since stopping the statins I no longer even need a panadol for my hip which now brings me into grave doubt whether I even needed the first hip replacement. Has your sleep and heartbeat settled down at night and do you still use an oxygen machine? I no longer take sleeping pills or losec pills it was clearly the Lipex (New Zealand) causing all these problems. The fish oil and coq10 settle the heartbeat for me every bit as good as the betalok used to, but if I forget the coq10 or fishoil the massive heart palipitations start right back up again. All hard case eh. Good luck
