There is no doubt that Singulair works. My daughter had pretty severe asthma and allergies, mold being one of them. She would typically be hospitalized 2-3 times a year due to severe asthma attacks that her medications could not control. Once she started taking a combination of Singulair, Zyrtec, and Advair she had never been hospitalized again. But, my daughter is now dead. She committted suicide at the age of 17 after being on Singulair for three years. Our family slowly saw her decline and we never linked her mood and behavior changes to the medication. So, I caution you. This drug does work, but at what price. Often times when your mood begins to deteriorate you have poor insight into what is going on with yourself. Often times it is when somebody else notices the changes that it is brought to your attention. So let everyone around you know that you are on this medication, and if they notice any side effects to be sure to bring it to your attention and get off of the medication. I am glad it works for you, but be careful!
my sentiments exactly, nobody questions that it works, but at what cost, these side effects are sneaky, not happening the moments after you swallow the pill but slowly over time ...months years...if it had been that easy....well only if...i wish
Well my hope is to get my asthma back under control because I had no problems with it over the past 25 years then this year, after I got an indoor cat then all hell startd breaking loose with my asthma. It's hard to say if mine is seasonal or permenant. Do you know of any other asthma type medication that helps you sleep through the night? Singular seems to help with that. I just want to feel better and not be afriad to take a jog or walk and feeling like I'll have an asthma attack.
I hope you don't still have the cat!
I agree. I think that if your asthma was controlled before getting the cat, then perhaps you should think about getting rid of it. I know how much we all love our animals, but you are taking a drug that could cost you your life. Think about what effects that this would have on your family and friends. It is a tough choice, but I think that your health and your family are more important than your cat. There are many other pets out there that do not aggravate allergies. Just something to think about.
