Update on my experience with Lisinopril. After 3 ER visits & 2 hospital stays the palpitations quit when the HCTZ (diuretic) was removed. Adjustment of dosage got the B/P readings down to acceptable levels but some side effects remain after 2 weeks. Dry-eye syndrome and over-the-counter drops do not help. I'm up most of the night-time. However in the daytime after I exercise I feel sleepy and can sleep for a couple hours time. Wondering if this side effect will go away or what. Anyone with the experience ?

Hi, Are you off the Lisinopril or was it the hctz causing the problems? I am very interested cause my husband takes hctz and he has generalized complaints. Please write to me at phylisrn@verizon dot net.

I am still on Lisinopril 20 mg in the morning and 20 mg in the evening. My fisaco began Aug 2nd-- dropped the HCTZ and finally the last 2 weeks I'm doing just great on controlling my bloodpressure and glad I stuck with this snake poisen after all. I was taking it at 7 in the morning and 5 in the evening as was given to me in the hospital.
But my PRIMARY said I needed to take it 7 and 7 and that seemed to be the answer to the current problem I was having with the second dose.
It took about 3 weeks to get used to the drug. Now I still have puffy eyes which indicates an allergy to and dry-eyes at night and that's a big nuisance and I don't sleep well. But its a side effect I'm willing to live with as long as my B/P remains in control.
Good Luck.
