I took Lisinopril for five months. The dose was increased from 10mg to 40 mg per day. At my request my doctor switched me to Amlodipine Besylate. With Lisinopril I was tired all the time and had Abnormal hair loss. Within a week, after the switch, I was back to normal. My daughter experienced the same thing. She was switched to Amlodipine and is back to normal. It may take a while for the hair that was lost to come back in.

How long might it take for the lost hair to grow back in? Or is it possible that it simply won't grow back? After taking the drug for a year, I recently had my doctor switch me to a new med in August. It's now October, and I am bald at the crown and in the front part of my head! Before, my hair was fairly thick. The dermatologist I consulted says that baldness must be in my genetic makeup, and if I hadn't seen this website, I might have believed him. Both doctors I saw didn't believe that this was a drug side effect, but when one of them decided to check her medical website, she saw that it is a problem that effects 1% of the population. It's too coincidental that all of these people with adverse effects to lisinopril have remarkably had all this hair loss!
