Thank you for sharing your experiences with this medication. My 4 (almost 5) yo has been on Singulair for almost 2 years now for allergies. I've noticed over the past few months a slow change in his behavior/attitude, not positive changes. He's become an aggressive, angry child that can be set off in a split second over nothing. He's also getting worse with not wanting to go into other parts of our home alone. He won't even walk down a short hall to go to the bathroom alone - is afraid of I don't know what. Lately, he's also been obviously having bad dreams because he kicks and yells in his sleep. I've just chalked all of this up to his age. While taking a walk yesterday I ran into a neighbor that was telling me the doctors want to put her son on Singulair but because of the possible hyperactivity and other side effects she won't do it. I came home and found this site along with others describing similar side effects as my sons. As of last night, we took him off of Singulair. I'm curious to see if this is the problem. I'll keep you posted.

Please DO keep us posted. What you describe is certainly a reaction to Singulair! Good luck.

How lucky (or fate) that you ran into your neighbor. Thank goodness that word is getting out about this medication. Let everybody know what this drug did to your son and maybe another child will be saved!

My 5 year old son is on singular.I was concerned about my son's behavior lately and his fear of the house. He too will not go anywhere in the house without someone. He says he does not know why he is afraid. He is very moody too. I decided to check out the side effects of singular. I was surprised when I saw your entry about his fear of the house. Now, I will be taking my son of singular.

My son has been off of this medication for 6 days now and I have noticed a difference in his anger (much better), no more nightmares, and he is doing much better being able to go into other rooms in the house alone. It's quite obvious that he was affected by the side effects of Sigulair and will never be on this evil medication again!! I'm so sad that I put him through this without knowing the risks. I will ALWAYS do my homework when it comes to medications from now on!

I have a five-year-old daughter that is NOT on Singulair (I am, that's how I bumped into this forum). I can tell you that over the last 6 months she has become moody, talks back, and has also become afraid of the dark around the house. In my humble opinion, this is probably due to age. I'd think twice about taking my child off an asthma medication based on these unfounded rumors.

My son has now been off of it for a few weeks and what a difference. I may chalk alittle of it up to age but as far as the anger issues and nightmares, he's done a complete turnaround. I don't care what the doctors may say, I'm convinced it was the medicine. He was on it for allergies, so he's now on an OTC and is doing fine with his allergies. BTW, my husband is also on Singulair and when he sees his allergy doctor every few months, he's asked if he feels depressed or suicidal since these are side effects shown in adults. Hmmmm, what does that say about this drug!!
