Hi everyone, I cannot live without xanax and its terrible, I have been on them for 5 months and have tried to stop them and its a nightmare. I suffer memory loss, have blackouts that I do not remember what I have said after a few drinks. It does help ease the social anxiety. But I have become moody, sleepy. . Does anyone else have these problems?

You probably need to get into treatment but with a medical detox frist. It can be very dangerous to your health to try to come off them cold turkey. You will also need a non-traditional program like Narconon that addresses the physical aspect of the addiction so that you can stay away from the pills for good! Good luck!!!

You shouldn't be drinking while taking Xanax. No wonder you are having complications!

xanax is a physically dangerous drug to detox from. It is a benzodiazopine, similar to valium, and stopping cold turkey can cause seizures and other serious medical complications. If you can't wean off of it without help you must check into a detox program for at least several days so the medical professionals can keep a close eye on your vital signs. I, too, have come off of xanax temporarily and you are right...It's a living hell. Makes you feel like a hallucinogenic cat on a hot tin roof, also nauseated and dizzy. Best of luck.

DETOX IS A GOOD IDEA BUT A REPUTABLE PLACE OTHERWIZE. A.A. AND N.A. ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS AND NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS MAY GUIDE AND HELP. ONE DOES NOT HAVE TO HAVE A DIRNKING PROBLEM TO BENEFIT FROM THERE PROGRAMM.
IT WILL WORK BUT ONLY IFF YOU WORK IT AND WANT TO WANT TO ENOUGH, DONT TAKE NOTICE OF SOME OTHERS WHOM MAY SAY YOU DONT BELONG, BECAUSE A.A. AND N.A. ARE ALL INCLUSIVE, AND IS NOT EXCLUSIVE.

Check out the website, benzo.org.uk for help with addiction to Xanax and other benzodiazepines. A good 12 step program like Narcotics Anonymous will help you stay clean once you get off the Xanax. Don't stop suddenly -- this is a med that you need to wean off. It has to be gradual because you can have seizures if you stop taking it suddenly.
