extremely depressed after a week of taking levoxyl. Also face is swollen, eye swollen and red and face and eyes burn. These were the same symptoms after taking synthroid after a week. What's next? I am close to being suicidal after having survived lung cancer, surgery, chemo and radiation. To get another primary cancer and have things slide downhill after such a remarkable recovery, I can do nothing but cry after making the decision to have a cancerous thyroid removed that could have served me for years and years since it was such a slow growing cancer. I should have followed my instincts and just left it alone. Now all I want to do is lie on the couch and cry.

I'm really sorry to read what you are going through. What you do is demand a switch to Armour desiccated thyroid, and if your doctor won't, find one who will. You also need to know how to dose Armour, which means you don't use the TSH at all! Google Stop the Thyroid Madness. It's a website that tells you how lousy Levoxyl and Synthroid are, and how much better desiccated thyroid has been for a HUGE amount of people, including me. The book is even better. I got it a month ago. Also, folks who had thyroid cancer and who are using Armour also use iodine supplementation. On the above website, they have a page where you can visit patient groups, and one if an iodine group. There are two women who run the Natural Thyroid Hormones group who are post-cancer survivors, and they use both Armour and iodine. Iodine is very anti-cancer. Hang in there!

So sorry to hear of your problems with Levoxyl. I have similar fact in that doctors believed, but it was impossible to verify that I have thyroid cancer, and I decided for surgery, and now after pathology they found it was not any cancer. But here I am, having no thyroid anymore and have to take for ever Levoxyl or something. have taken Levoxyl now for 2 months and have many bad side effects and also wish I never let them do surgery on me.

I had breast cancer 7 years ago and it seems once you're in the claws of the medical people, you never get away and they keep messing with you...........

Yes-- you seem to be going through the same kind of hell as I am. When I finally get in to see another endo person, I am going to ask for Armour Thyroid at a lower level than the Levoxyl. I am at .100 and think I still need to go down to 0.50. I am going to totally eliminate most of the doctors from my life and just take my chances. I will go to those who write RX's for me, but the rest are going to fall off my list. I just want my old life back.
