I just finished a 10 day (4xday) prescription of Flagyl (250 mg) ...

That is strange. I just came off of a 10 scrip and a day after I came off I had severe chest pain and broke out into hives all over my body. I went in and they told me I was having an alergic reaction to something, and prescibed me benedryl. But I don't feel any better. My arms are sore and my hands swolen. Last night my eyes and my lips started to swell up too.

That is basically the same thing that happened to me. I took my last flagyl pill of a 10 day, 3/day prescription on a Friday morning. That evening I noticed my legs were very swollen & painful. I thought I must be retaining water. A bit later, my scalp & neck started itching. Saturday AM, my whole body itched severely & I realized I must be having an allergic reaction to the flagyl so I took benedryl. Over the course of the day, I developed severe hives all over my entire body. In some places I even looked sunburned. My hands & joints swelled up badly & hurt badly. By Sunday, when I was seen by dr, my upper lip was swollen & my face was bright red. Dr gave me a steroid shot & I continued benedryl every four hours. The hives & swelling got worse yet over night. That night, I got diarrhea, had bad chills but felt hot to the touch, and I woke up during night feeling like I had swallowed a bouncy ball & it was lodged in my throat. In the morning, my eyelids were swollen nearly to the point of being shut & had a pus like discharge. I went to the dr again to be rechecked & to be sure my throat was not closing. Luckily, by the time I was seen again, the prednisone had kicked in & my swelling had begun reducing. At that point, I weighed three pounds less than I had the day before because of it. My hives were beginning to lighten as well. Consequently it was decided no additional meds were necessary. The hives continued to fade & were close to being gone by that evening, although many left behind bruises. That night, I woke up in middle of the night with severe itching again & took more benedryl. That's where I am now. I have many drug allergies and I have to say that this is by far the most severe reaction I have ever had. It has been a very scary one.

finished flagyl 500mg 4times a day...two days later i woke up with hives itchy hives all over me ...how long yours lasted and wat did u do for your hives hope youre feeling better thnx
