I have been on celexa for 4 days I know its not a long enough time for the meds to "kick In" but i am terrified and waiting for something bad to happen. I have struggled with terrible panic attacks since my pregnancy in o6-07 and they have lingered on and gotten worse. I was ok and happy to finally take the initiative to get better, I don't like even taking Tylenol so tis is a big deal for me. I was prescribed 10mg and have been only taking 5 of the 10 to wean myself into this drug.. I wish i could know what to expect and all i feel is nauseous, weird and shaky and last night i couldn't fall back to sleep i felt a lil dizzy is this normal?? I hope i don't have any vision loss also!

I have been on celexa for about 10 years and I love it except for the decrease in myh sex drive. Overall, it does wonders. Give it time. You will be a little anxious but it will go away. What is your dose? Hang in there. If you have any questions, please email me. Steph in Alaska

Hi, I was just the same when I was having my little boy. At first I was put on dizapem thinking I was just having anxiety because I was so sick. i couldn't eat anything but once my sickness got better, I still had the panic every single day so my gp gave me citalopram. The first few weeks were hard on it, I'd say about 4. I had so many side effects and worse anxiety but then it really helped me. I wasn't ever 100% perfect because of having so many hormones buzzing inside me but I just staye din all the time too afraid before taking it and was able to go out again and lead a more normal life. The day William was born, I was perfect! My anxiety and depression just lifted but I came off my pills a bit too soon and got pnd for a few months so had to go back on the citalopram, which made me feel 99% well again in no time, if the same thing happens to you. It's just horrible to take at first but worth it.
I really feel for you and hope you are better soon. All the very best with your baby!

Sorry, you've actually had your baby haven't you and the panic attacks are still with you.
The citalopram (celexa) should help you lots but what you are feeling already is a normal side effect of it getting into your system. You may even feel alot worse before better but I promise, it will be worth it once the side effects subside...they take about a month to calm down.

Ps.I've never had vision loss with the medicine, I have had hot/cold flushes, feelign sick, shaking and increased anxiety, oh and the terrible insomnia but my doctor gave me sleeping pills to help until my sleep pattern went back to normal again.
