I was just wondering if anyone else has a yeast infection type of effect from this. The insertion was horrible since it came out the first time they put it in. i was bleeding for almost 2 months and now spotting off and on. i have horrible itching and dryness. they thought it was a yeast infection so i treated it with the yeast infection medicine and did the 7 day one. then 2 weeks later it started again. she think i stopped using the hydrocortizone cream too soon. i don't think that's it. i think it might be the mirena and if it is i want it out asap. i've never had itching or dryness. anyone else had these side effects?

Not just dryness and itching... Horrible bacterial infections that smells like sewage due to all the bleeding and discharge that has been constant for 6 months. I want to get it out but can't afford it.

Yes! Terrible, terrible itching, the kind that makes you feel like you are losing your mind because 1) you can't scratch it in public and 2) you can't identify what's causing it. Early on, I treated for yeast infections, then got tested for every STD under the sun (all negative), and my OB-GYN put me on a corticosteroid (clobetasol ointment) to try to get the symptoms under control. I used that for as long as you are able, then she referred me to a dermatologist, who has put me on an anti-pruritic (eladil?) cream. Both treatments have helped to manage the itch, but it has not gone away. I had the IUD removed just over one month ago, and though there have been days where I was symptom free, the itch is still present (and got worse in the days leading up to my period). I am hopeful that the symptoms will continue to improve as the amount of artificial hormone in my body drops over time. Though the US websites don't list "itching, pruritis and rash" as possible side effects, foreign websites do. Ultimately, all of the doctors involved in treating my maddening symptoms have agreed that Mirena could be the cause and removal was the best course of action.
