I am taking Levaquin one time a day, 500 mg. for diverticultis. I have fibromyalgia so attributed symptoms of EXTREME FATIGUE to that but this is fatigue like I've never known. I can't do much of anything. I don't work outside the home so will just deal with it if it cures my infection. I'm using sleep meds too...but that could be fibromyalgia kicking in too. But fatigue is much worse. I hope it kills those bad bacteria!

Levaquin will make your symptoms of fibromyalgia much worse and it may last indefinitely. I would get off it ASAP and ask your dr. for a safer medication. This medicine was recently black-boxed by the FDA for tendon problems. That is just one set of problems you can get from levaquin. This medicine is extremely toxic. Good luck to you.

Do you mean that the fatigue this bad could last? I'm not having any muscle pains at this time...just the infection and extreme fatigue. I only have two days left of the ten days total.

That's exactly what she meant! Just because the medication ends does not mean the effects end. Trust me, it has been 22 months. Others on here are way beyond that. The extreme fatigues is brutal. There were many times when I could not open my eyes more than 4 hours out of a 24 hour period.

Good luck.

Both postings are correct. I am almost 3 years into this.....if you already deal with a chronic pain issue, I would not mess with this and just HOPE all will be well after you stop it. I took it for 6 days and here I am still having pain, tendon pain, muscle pain, joint pain....don't tempt the fates. Get off this drug NOW! Good luck!

This is all so scary. I don't know what antibiotic they would replace it with because I am allergic to so many. I've been on it before and never had bad side effects. I'll talk to my MD about this. Thank you.

I'm sorry to scare you like this. But you need to be informed. Educate yourself on this class of drugs. I took Cipro in 2004 & 05 for a UTI and that is when my joint pain actually started but it was not as acute as it is today. I never dreamed that an anitbiotic could do this and altho I felt like shit the entire time I was on the Cipro. Had diarreha, stomache pain....but attributed the joint pain to just getting old...at almost 40 I figured, WOW, all that kickboxing must be having a bad effect..had my doc do a battery of tests for RA, Lupus, Gout and all came back negative.just could not figure it out...then I took the Levaquin in 06 and the effects on my achilles tendon were immediate...again, I didn't get it that it was the Levaquin until day 6 when I finally Googled it. Then it just got worse & worse after that...thank goodness I didn't suffer the more frightening effects of panic attacks and freaky episodes that so many did...I actually count myself lucky in that if you can believe it! Stay strong and remember that you are not alone, that there are those of us who know what REALLY happens with this class of drugs and anyone who tells you otherwise has never experienced it for themselves. Take care!
