I'm a 40 year old personal trainer and competitive cyclist. I have been taking lisinopril 10 mg daily for 7 days. I was diagnosed with a malfunctioning valve. My bp of 130/78 was pre-hypertensive and I was told could aggravate my valve disease. I have lost 4 lbs in one week due to the dehydration. I tried to ride my bike yesterday and made it 10 miles before my chest pain began. I have had an echo, a nuclear stress test and a transesophageal echo in the last week. I knew there wasn't anything wrong with my heart. I pedaled home at a snails pace after riding for half an hour. I typically ride just under 200 miles per week so this was merely a warm up. The exhaustion, inability to sleep, inability to focus, and cold like syptoms have been debilitating. Things that would normally be irritating cause serious agitation. My heart rate was elevated during my workouts which I attribute to the severe dehydration. I cannot get enough to drink to counteract it. I get short of breath with minimal exercise. The doctor at the hospital performing my transesophageal echo seemed genuinely surprised that I was having these side effects. My cardiologist said lisinopril doesn't cause them. I have not taken the drug since Thursday and am still feeling in a fog after just a week on it.
Hey guys get off it, try something else I also started with 10mg then went to 5mg then 2.5mg and all of it makes me fatigue, lazy soar feet. I stopped after I dropped 50lbs. And have been fine, but don't wait for Dr. to change meds tell him you want something else.
