Moderately high cholesterol and BP 150/90. Was put on Lipitor 20mg and after a week felt more fatigued than usual but nothing much more than this. Had stress test and angiogram which showed 60-70% block in one artery as well as arrhythmia. Cardiologist bumped Lipitor up to 80 mg which I took for 2 weeks. But by then I was suffering most of the effects described in these postings: aches and pains, giddiness, nausea, extreme weakness and fatigue. I took myself off Lipitor and even after one day my head started to clear aches started to diminish, though urine still a reddish color suggesting a lot more flushing out required. And, best of all, the arrhythmia reduced from moderate/severe to mild (which it always used to be before taking Lipitor). This drug is not for me. I'd rather take my chances without it and rely on strict diet, weight loss, etc. It is surprising that the possible side effects are so understated in the manufacturer's descriptions.

Not all people have worst side effects. You can find detailed info on the side effects and various drugs that don't along well with lipitor at

Yo mate as well as the statins which I started on first my godforsaken clown had me on accuril and Betalok than followed digestion gout sleeping pills premature hip replacement that's taken 12 months to get over because me joints & muscles buggered by the statins. But hows this? all medicines get chucked in a blaze of glory, now this is from a fella that had ever been to a doctor, before he started to "be responsible" for his health, I buy my own BP meter load up on fish oil and COQ10 (kaneka brand don't bother with other brands) within 3 months no arithmyia at all, BP 106/ 70 pulse 45 at 6.30 am B4 I get out of bed. I can only say I'm pleased my bloody clown of a GP was my GP if he was my anethisist I'd still be asleep on the table. If I forget my fishoil and COq10 I notice it and if I get any palipaptations some extra oil and coq10 fixes it every bit as good as betalok. What are these guys on? Some of them make politicians and financial advisors look sensible and honest. CYa

Good for you to stop taking this dangerous drug. I stopped taking this poison nearly 8 mos. now and I still have many side effects. There are many natural products and alternatives. Unfortunately, all drs. know is to push more drugs.

Ron, you are right. All the side effects are not in the drug literature. If they did publish this information it would be very bad for sales., and SALES is the real goal here. Not your health.

There has been considerable time, effort and money invested in sweeping side effects of statins under the rug. The two most important tools a statin Sales Rep can posess are: 1) Broom 2) Rug
