Did you have pain with insertion?
I guess you have to way up all possibilities, but if you are already suffering from bi-polar I would really suggest you have the mirena removed. It's not worth the heartache, but most of all you don't know how the mirena will react with your medication and if it will damage your liver, which is what happened to me. It's about time our guys stood up and took a bit of responsibility, see if your man will have a vasectomy, or try the new procedure where they have some little device inserted which can be swtiched on when they don't want children and switched back off if they decide to have anymore. Worth a thought. However not every woman reacts the same and in many cases the mirena has been a godsend to women, so maybe try things out for a couple of months, you will now if it's not working, trust me!!!
I get so upset when I read these posts. I have had the Mirena since Dec of 2006. I had my 3rd baby in Oct of that year (at the age of 36), only gained about 15 pounds during the pregnancy, and had lost any baby weight by probably November. (I am about 5' 7" always had been around 135 lbs. ) By January I had gained about 10 pounds. I had quit work to stay home with my baby, and we would walk 5-6 miles a day, every day, and I barely could even maintain my weight, much less lose any. A year later I had to go back to work and was unable to spend hours working out every day, and last week I had the wonderful experience of a co worker saying I should eat one of the donuts brought in, because I was eating for two. This is not the first time I have been mistaken as pregnant, and let me tell you it is humiliating. My stomach is so bloated, and it has only been this way since I have had the Mirena inserted. I am so angry at the doctors, and at the makers for not being truthful, I wish them only the worst. I have always prided myself on my appearance, and since having this put in, I feel so disgusting, I wish I could wear a sign that says "Im not normally fat, its the Mirena IUD". They need to be sued.
many of the symptoms you are describing are normal post-partum hormonal issues. (I've had 3 children). In about 6 months a lot of what you are describing should even out.
I too feel that my stomach appears or feel bloated. However, after 3 pregnancies, expecting anything resembling a flat stomach isn't realistic for most of us. I'm 5'4 and weigh 125-130 lbs and wear a size 10 b/c of my "stomach". I can't directly relate this to the mirena but I have felt this way since I had it put in, in 2004.
It's not likely that you will "push" it out. Your cervix should be closed by now. I know a lot of people who have Mirena and no one that I know has had it "fall out".
I won't deny that there are issues with having it, I've had ovary pain and cysts and now am bleeding every two weeks, but it is very effective and there are not the hormal side effects or risks that come with birth control pills. I am in my mid-30s and many of these issues may have more to do with me getting older than with my birth-control choice.
