THIS IS A HORRIBLE DANGEROUS DRUG!!!!! Doctors prescribed this to my mother for 5 years!!!! Because of it's devastating side effects it is FDA approved for short term 4-12 weeks and only as a last resort. And NEVER for Parkinson's patients. It is unclear if Reglan caused the Parkinson's like symptoms or if she had it prior. Either way the doctor was so wrong to prescribe this medication to her. She is completely disabled can't walk or even get out of a chair had a auto accident and falls one time a metal frame fell on her head causing a hospital visit another time she fell into cactus! I was horrified to learn that no one caught this error. Not one doctor or the drug store told my parents REGLAN could cause her to end up using a walker and unable to function even the simplest daily tasks and that these symptoms could be permanent.

To clearify....the doctor had her on RELAN for 5 years! It is FDA approved for 4-12 weeks. This was like prescribing a bullet in the heard to get rid of a headache.

Dear Utoh,
#35147
I am so terribly sorry about the trauma that your family is going through, particularly your dear Mother. I read your post with interest as I also appear to be the victim of 5 weeks of IV reglan....
I had been hospitalized with a bleeding ulcer and ended up undergoing three surgeries and 30 pints of transfused blood before they CUT out the part of my stomach that contained the ulcer. Thankfully, I am alive.
I was hospitalized from 4/4 - 5/8 of this year. I was only in the hospital a week when I knew that something was wrong w/ my legs. I was wearing the "boots" on my legs that prevent blood clots but I kept telling the nurse that it really HURT-too tight and my feet were turning blue. I also developed a painful lump on the bottom/side of my foot...but I was so sick I suppose they were dealing with the really serious issues, as they saw them. One day my friend saw my chart and they listed me as being a "hysterical female"....they didn't realize it was the DRUG! As the days went by I became more incapacitated and my family and friends had to FEED me...(My husband was in end-stage bladder cancer and even HE was helping me!) This was scary because I am a 60 year old-athletically framed and inclined woman who has never been ill a day in my life....
I was finally discharged to the home of my friend because I couldn't take any more....Fortunately, I was able to get home to be w/ my husband as he had hospice. I was there for him but with a walker, a brace, severe weakness on my left side with tremers throughout my body....My left foot was turned under and I couldn't straighten it out due to severe pain. Also, it was like I had to constantly be "reminded" HOW to walk...I couldn't get the concept of "heel first-not toes first" as I would fall down. My tendons were so tight!
I have been diagnosed by my PCP as having Parkinson's but my neurologist won't commit. She first said I may have a "motion illness" or a stroke. I JUST found all of this out today when I went back to PT after a month off. I am elated but sickened at what this drug did to your mother and what it has taken away from me......Do you know of any Class Action Law suits surrounding these horrible facts about reglan? I am very curious. Sue in Massachusetts. PS...I am a trained Psychotherapist so you can imagine how ridiculous "HYSTERIA" sounds in the day and age...Hello? There are REASONS why someone is hysterical! Reglan! (I could hardly talk much less be hysterical!) My illness was so serious tht I almost died 5 times in three weeks.....while on reglan!

Reglan kills................my mom started taking it March 29th and was dead by Nov 1st. She was in a nursing home and was being "monitored" by doctors and nurses. No one noticed the adverse reactions. They were as plain as day. The drug needs to be taken off the market. We need to tell everyone you can

I have been taking Reglan for approx. 2yrs and had to stop taking it 4 weeks ago D/T symptoms I have been having. I have facial rigidity, grimacing and my lower jaw I have no control it wants to pull over to the right side like Lock Jaw, Hand tremors, losing my balance and insomnia I have had for sometime. I made an appt. with my MD D/T to sudden onset of latest symptoms. I have Crohns, Ulcerative colitis and Barretts for years now I 'm having to deal with this. My sisters GI MD told her of the side effects and I should stop taking it right away because it is Dangerous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My symtoms have only gotten worse since I have stopped taking the REGLAN. Please let everyone know about this drug and how devastating it has become. I'll reply back with what my MD is going to do for me............THANKS FOR LISTENING!!!!!!!!
