mlhall,
I, too, had a similar experience with Avelox. I was given 5 samples to take, one a day, and stopped on day 2 (Saturday) when I began breaking out on my neck. The worst itch I've ever experienced! I gave it until Monday to check it out with the doctor, and by then I had broken out in splotches all over my upper torso. Upon seeing the doctor, who believed I had "worried myself into hives", he prescribed 2 antihistamines and Zithromax. That was in August. The hives took 4 weeks to completely go away, and since then I have had all sorts of strange symptoms that I never had before. I also had never had a reaction to an antibiotic. You are not crazy, nor are you alone, no matter what a doctor may tell you. This medication, given to me for a sinus infection, belongs in a hospital or as a last resort, not a sample. Good luck to you.
