I completely agree and am so sorry that this has happened to you! I too was a healthy strong and physically fit person...took Cipro in 04 & 05 for UTI and just couldn't figure out why my joints were always hurting, myknees, shoulders etc...had always been super active and athletic, kickboxing, softball, taekwando, so many other activities...had all the tests, all came back negative...figured that so much activty over the years was catching up to me at 38-39 yrs...then in Feb 06 came down with the most sever case of bronchitis ever...even put me on a home nebulizer, a first! Then the Levaquin...within hours I have pain in my feet, achilles tendon, was given absolutely no info...so sick I just figured I was so sick that everything hurt...then after 6 days and by then was on crutches, I googled it...today almost 3 yrs later, daily pain, struggle to get thru the work day...tendonitis throughout my body, feel every joint...but you know what....I WILL NOT let it WIN....I still do things, camping with my 12 yr old, kayaking, everyday chores, work full time as an event planner...all in terrible pain...but it WILL NOT rob my life...stay strong and keep the faith! Don't let the light that is your life be stolen from you. Take care!
It's horrible but true. Levaquin adds more victims every day and Cipro is the evil twin. Once you have a reaction to one you should be told you are allergic to ALL FLUOROQUINOLONES, the class of drugs these things are in. I only took Cipro for 5 days and wound up in agony. Natural supplements helped me, I can only hope they will do the same for you. You can see the site I started to help others called www.floxintoxin.com for my story and what has worked. I've listed every supplement taken (and still taking). All these drugs screw up the thyroid. Thank you for that confirmation. No doctor told me and I couldn't find it anywhere, just did the research and kept on digging. I had a thyroid test done just after Cipro and it came back with high TSH and other levels normal. Just a week ago it tested completely normal, but that didn't answer my questions on the newly developed depression that has occurred after Cipro. Iodine is what I came up with and have started taking. I can't tell you much but the depression is gone so it's doing something. A simple test can tell you, search for "iodine deficiency test" for a simple, cheap test you can do at home to find out if you're deficient. I have no idea if the damage to you is permanent or not, but it's another thing to consider that may help. It's not over until you've exhausted all possibilities and there are alot of possible natural remedies out there to try. Best of luck to you.
